The Department of Health (DOH) announced, February 2, Sunday, the first death due to novel coronavirus in the Philippines.
DOH said that a 44-years old who have been admitted to the San Lazaro Hospital last January 25, died Saturday. He was the partner of the first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus in the country.
“Over the course of the patient’s admission he developed severe pneumonia. In his last few days, the patient was stable and showed signs of improvement. However, the condition of the patient deteriorated within the last 24 hours resulting in his demise,” DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III.
This is not the first confirmed death case of the Novel Coronavirus outside China, the World Healtg Organization in the Philipines stated that this is not locally-acquired case.
