According to TomTom Traffic Index 2019, Manila ranked as second out of 416 cities across 57 contries in urban congestion announced last Wednesday, as they released its Traffic Index for 2019.
Tomtom is an independent location technology that noted a global increase congestion.
While Metro Manila placed second to Bengaluru or Bangalore, India, the two cities had the same congestion level. Only 15 out of the 416 cities had a congestion level of 50% and above.

However, this is not the first time that National Capital Region ranked a "world's worst traffic" study.
The Asian Development Bank entitled Metro Manila as the "most congested ity in developing asia" last 2018.
According to TomTom, they concluded that Friday of the week is the worst rush hour at 6-7pm. It stated travelling after 7pm on Friday could save a motorust up to 5 hours per year for a 30-minute commute. An average congestion level of 128% of the evening rush on Friday.
The lowest average daily congestion at 0% recorded last 2019, it was on April 19. This was Good Friday.
Meanwhile, in the same year, August 16, Friday was the worst day for Metro Manila Congestion where the 3-day sales started on this day.
