Government officials in Manila received reports on face mask prices surging up to P200 after Taal volcano's eruption yesterday.

Taal Volcano's volcanic activites that resulted in the spreading of ashfall across South Luzon up to Central Luzon urged the citizens to buy their own N95 face mask to reduce the risk of inhaling the ashfall.

Of course the National Capital Region (NCR) citizens were no different and they rushed towards several stores to buy their own safety masks.

However, Manila Vice Mayor Ma. Sheilah H. Lacuna-Pangan received complaints from her people that the store prices of face mask arose from P25-P30 to P200.

"Huwag naman po natin gamitin ang panahon na ito para manamantala. Tandaan po natin, delikado po sa kalusugan nila ito," she said in her statement regarding the issue.

A person exposed to volcanic ash may experience nose and throat irritation, coughing, bronchitis-like illness, discomfort while breathing, eye irritation, and minor skin problems according to Department of Health.

The authorities will inspect store retailers in Manila in concern to the affair.
