The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), stated that despite of the slightly eased of Taal volcano's main crater activity there is still a "continuous magmatic and hydrovolcanic activity."
Philvocs said "Lava fountains generated 800-meter-tall dark gray steam-laden plumes that drifted to the general southwest."
Lava fountains and the ash plumes, fissures or cracks have been spotted on the ground in the province of Batangas
In particular, Phivolcs said fissures were observed in these areas:
Lemery - Sinisian, Mahabang Dahilig, Dayapan, Palanas, Sangalang, Poblacion
Agoncillo - Pansipit
San Nicolas - Poblacion 1, Poblacion 2, Poblacion 3, Poblacion 5
The chief of the Phivolcs Volcano Monitoring and Eruption Prediction Division, Maria Antonia Bornas, discussed in a press briefing that the fissures indicate that magma continues to rise.
"Meron talagang magma na umaakyat pa sa Taal, kaya po nire-reiterate po natin...na kailangan po i-evacuate ang Taal Volcano Island, ang lawa ng Taal, at ang high-risk areas po sa paligid ng bulkan...within 14 kilometers from the main crater," Bornas stated in a press briefing.
A total of 335 volcanic earthquakes in the Taal area since 1 pm on Sunday, January 12.
