Duterte announces travel restriction on Metro Manila to counter COVID-19

President Rodrigo Duterte announced during his address on March 12, 2020, that travle restrictions will be implemented as part of community quarantine.


Starting March 15, 2020, all land, domestic air, and sea travel in Metro Manila will be suspended.


With the pandemic of COVID-19 that already killed more than 4,200 people, including 2 from the Philippines, which is now under a state of public health emergency, precautionary measures will be enacted.


"Land, domestic air, and domestic sea travel to and from Metro Manila shall be suspended after beginning March 15, 2020, and to end on April 14, 2020," President Duterte in a televised address.


The restriction of travel was recommended by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID)
