President Rodrigo Duterte insisted to visit the affected areas in Taal on January 14, Tuesday despite the expected continuous ashfall.
"Tomorrow, mag-ikot-ikot ako . . . I want to go around . . ." Duterte stated to the reporters in his interview during the visit to the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) at Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City.
As of January 13, Batangas has been under the state of calamity after the surrounding areas near Taal have much been covered to ashes forcing the local government to obligate the people to evacuate to safer areas.
" ... 'Pag hindi nyo ako nakita sa daan, sa bangin nyo na ako hanapin," Duterte said in jest, he will also continue surveying the area aboard a helicopter to see the extent of the damages that the calamity resulted.
Though warned by his doctors, the president will still proceed to his schedule.
