FCPC holds 21st Century Skill seminar for College students

A fruitful seminar to support the students in their future endeavors.




First City Providential College held its seminar about 21st Century Skills: Trends and Challenges in the Industry at FCPC Gymnasium on February 4, 2020.

Dr. Cherry May Palacio, the speaker of the program, shared a statistical fact in why we need to enhance our 21st-century skills.


"Out of 300 applicants, only 85 passed the interview." said Dr. Cherry May Palacio


She implied that we need to utilize our knowledge and skills to improve ourselves and keep up with the changing world.


"Competition is fierce today. Kapag di ka nagbasa, bukas obsolete ka na" she emphasized in her speech.

Dr. Estrella Simon also participated in the seminar, reassuring that the First Citizens are ready to take on any future that they will encounter.


"I would like to use the term future-proofing." Dr. Estrella Simon said


She said it's about anticipating and preparing the students to become significant workers in the future.


Before ending her speech she left words of encouragement to FCPCians.


"In FCPC, every student is a gem. Because all of you, to me, are the stars of all seasons." Dr. Simon's remarks on FCPCians.

FCPC students also shared their thoughts after the seminar concluded.


"Magagamit ko yung natutunan ko sa seminar na to tulad ng speaking fluently [21st century skill]. Yun, magagamit ko yung pakikipag-usap ko nang maayos gamit yung English at saka paano ko makuha yung loob ng tao sa social skill." Michael Florido, a 2nd Year Hotel and Restaurant Management student, reflected.


Stephanie Bueno, a 2nd Year Education student, answered "Maa-apply ko yung mga learning and skills na natutunan ko sa field ko."


Wilter Vienne Ronquillo, a 2nd Year Psychology student, responded: "This seminar will have an impact on the minds of us Generation Z students because it allowed us to be informed about the skill sets needed to adapt in a fast-paced world of work."


"This seminar would allow me to be informed of different trends in the world of Psychology." he added.
