An international seminar on 21st Century Education was conducted in First City Providential College this Wednesday morning with the theme “Global Collaboration for the Attainment of Sustainable Development Goals 2030”.
The seminar was opened by the remarks of Dr. Estrella Simon leaving the students with a collection of IAESTE trivia which are essential for the students to know as part of being globally competent.
Students and faculty members whom been to international activities this year have been awarded by the school administration as a commendation of their effort to bring the name of the school into the world stage.
The awardees includes John Lanreb Bernal, Ron Brian Badomo, Raineri Albert Grafil, Aldrin Vergara, Charlotte Marie Sales, Arabelle Baquiler and Josiah Buhayan.
Faculty awardees includes Dr. Estrella Simon, Dr. Echel Simon Antero and Mrs. Sherill Echanis.
Lenka Vatrskova talked about diversity which exercises innovation, creativity and problem solving capabilities through integration and collaboration.
Charlotte Marie A. Sales shared her experience on being to Bangkok, Thailand where she experienced the culture and tradition together with the knowledge and experience shared by the people of Thailand.
It has also been a chance for her and all the Filipinos she is with to showcase our very own culture to the event they attended.
‘’Sustainable Development Goals 2030” was the topic talked about by Dr. Cherry May Palacio in which she discussed among the students the importance and goals of this project which would benefit the entirety of the society in the whole world.
The presentation that Engr. Ricky Bustamante had prepared contains the topic of “Strengthening Collaboration through Research Utilization” which was brief yet important for the students of FCPC to remember as part of the institution’s mission to produce viable researches for local and international publication and utilization.
Patrick Villanueva, a student of the Bachelor of Arts in Communication provided the synthesis of the event which he concluded with a quote from Dr. Estrella Simon, “We should set our goals to become globally competitive and let it be not only a lip service but reality”.
After the seminar proper, it was time for the first oath taking and induction ceremony for the IAESTE Local Committee Officers led by Mica Ella Hapal of the Senior High School department and Von Dominiq Baña of the College department.
First City Providential College is the first school in the country to provide Local Committee Officer which would represent not only the institution, but the whole country in the world level of IAESTE community.
Truly that this institution live by its saying, “Be the first, be the best!”
