Japan quarantined ship has new Coronavirus cases



New cases of 70 people onboard a quarantined cruise ship in Japan tested positive for the coronavirus as stated by Japanese health minister Katsunobu Kato on Sunday.


The total number of cases in the Diamond Princess owned by Carnival Corp now elevates to 355. It has been under containment since arriving in Yokohama on Feb. 3 due to the discovery of a man diagnosed with the virus that was in the vessel.


The total number of passengers on board is at least 3,700 with the addition of the crew onboard and those who tested positive of the virus are being transferred to Japanese hospitals for quarantine and treatment.


As of now, there is no casualty due to the virus but the spread of it is yet to be contained.

Beijing counts more or less 68,000 cases of the coronavirus and the death toll counts more than 1,600 most of it coming from the Hubei province.


Aside from the cases of coronavirus originated from the ship, Japan has 53 outside cases which most are originated from mainland China.
