The Philippines declared temporary travel suspension to Filipino toutists to South Korea due to the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) pandemic.
the Philippine Government also banned the travelers from South Korea's North Gyeongsang province, which has been affected with an outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
"Any travel to South Korea will be temporarily suspended." Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III stated on a press conference but added some groups of people who were not covered by the ban.
Duque said that permanent residents, overseas Filipino workers with jobs in South Korea and students based in the said country will still be allowed to travel to South Korea, subject to proper precautionary measures and 14-days quarantine.
Those who are not covered by tge travel ban will be required to sign a declaration that they understand the risks involved in travelling to South Korea.
As of 3:40pm on Wednesday, South Korea recorded the highest number of the COVID-19 cases outside China at 1,146 infected patients. There are already 12 died while 22 recovered from the disease.
