Department of Health (DOH) confirmed 33 positive cases of the deadly virus in the Philippines as of March 10, 2020.
The jump from 3 cases to 33 cases surely surprised Filipinos.
The status of coronavirus in the Philippines is as follows: 33 total cases, 1 death, 2, total recovered, 30 active cases, and 1 in serious critical condition.
Timeline
January 30, 2020: First confirmation of coronavirus in the country came from a female Chinese national and was admitted to San Lazaro Hospital. Followed by her partner and another separate case in Bohol. Bringing the total of 3 infected people in the country
February 01, 2020: Patient #2, or the partner of P#1, died of the virus and was the first death of the virus outside of China.
February 06, 2020: The first patient who tested positive of COVID-19 in the Philippines reportedly tested negative and was recovered.
March 05, 2020: Two cases of Filipino citizenship confirmed positive. One was admitted to Research Institute for Tropical Medicine while the other was firstly hospitalized in Cardinal Santos Medical Center, San Juan but was moved in RITM as well. This day also marked the first local case of the disease for there was no record of travel history for patient #5 but had been joining a Muslim prayer hall regularly.
March 06, 2020: A female Filipino citizen confirmed "positive" of the virus. She was also admitted to the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine.
March 08, 2020: Confirmation of 4 new records of the virus. Bringing the total case of the virus in the Philippines to 10.
March 09, 2020: Another 14 cases of virus was confirmed. Making a total of 24 infected people in the country.
March 10, 2020: Clarification on the previous statement; It was San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan and not Sta. Maria, Bulacan that tested positive of the virus. Also, DOH confirmed only 9 additional cases were tested positive. It was contrary to their previous statement of 11 on the same day. Reducing the number to 33 from 35.
