Philippines now under "state of calamity" due to surge of COVID-19 cases

On Tuesday evening, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte declared a state of calamity in the whole Philippines due to the spread of COVID-19 in the country.


In the statement, it issued the Proclamation No. 922, s. 2020, whereas it stated the assistance and cooperation of all government agencies and local government units (LGUs) to commit to eliminating the viral disease.


Also, they are ordered to mobilize all necessary resources to tackle critical, urgent, and appropriate responses and measures immediately to reduce the risk and end the spread of coronavirus.
