President Rodrigo Duterte and top officials went on self-quarantine as the following had close contact with a person diagnosed to be positive with the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).
Duterte was tested for the disease along with Senator Bong Go at 5 in the afternoon at Bahay Pagbabago within the Malacanang complex.
Results of the tests are expected to be released in 48 hours as said by Go.
“They are undertaking this pre-emptive step as per the advice of health officials given that they have regularly engaged with Cabinet officials, some of whom have opted to undergo self-quarantine as they were exposed to those infected with COVID-19,” Panelo stated on Thursday.
The tests were part of protocols to ensure that government workers are fit and healthy to fulfill their duties and obligations in their positions.
