UN chief asks for "immediate global ceasefire" in amid of pandemic

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres appealed for an "immediate global ceasefire" to protectthe vulnerable civilians from the affected zones due to pandemic coronavirus, March 23. He said in a brief speech at UN headquarters in New York, "The fury of the virus illustrates the folly of war... that is why today, I am calling for an immediate global ceasefire in all corners of the world." Syria have already been torn in 10 years of war, and recorded its first case of Covid-19 virus. "It is time to put armed conflict on lockdown and focus together on the true fight of our lives," Guterres stated. "Silence the guns; stop the artillery; end the air strikes." The UN is expected to unveil a detailed worldwide plan for humanitarian with a creation of fund dedicated to the international fight against the virus on Wednesday, March 25.
