On February 5, 2020, Donald Trump's impeachment trial concluded with Trump's acquittal of the case.
He was trialed with the allegations of abusing his office and obstructing Congress' investigation.
To convict the President for impeachment, two-thirds of the senator's votes were required to enact the verdict of guilt.
However, Trump's political party (Republicans) was the majority of the senate which made his acquittal quite certain.
Republican Mitt Romney, one of his political ally, became the first senator in history to oppose the President and support his impeachment despite being in the same party.
"I believe that the act he took, an effort to corrupt an election is as destructive... An attack on the oath of office and our constitution as I can imagine" Senator Mitt Romney on an interview with Fox News.
In his tweet, Trump said that he will talk about his impeachment acquittal publicly on Thursday from the White House.
I will be making a public statement tomorrow at 12:00pm from the @WhiteHouse to discuss our Country’s VICTORY on the Impeachment Hoax!
