Andray Blatche is excited to wear the Philippine colors once again for the upcoming 2020 Dubai International Basketball Tournament under the Mighty Sports team that will open on January 23.
The main center is determined to carry the team into a better finish than last year’s tournament where the Philippines finished third place.
According to him, he was so excited and did not hesitate to accept the invitation. He thinks that this tournament is his calling to once again represent our country to the world stage and his goal is to get that Championship title this year.
People would remember his contribution to the Gilas team in the 2019 FIBA World Cup wherein he averaged 15.8 points, the most in the team together with 8.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.4 steals.
Blatche thinks that this is a great opportunity for him to redeem himself after the winless campaign that happened in China.
This will be Blatche's first stint for the Philippines since the 2019 FIBA World Cup in September, where he averaged a team-high 15.8 points to go with 8.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.4 steals in Gilas Pilipinas' winless campaign in China.
The team harbors so much positivity as young guns like the 17-year-old prodigy Kai Sotto, Thirdy Ravena, brothers Juan, and Javi Gomez de Liano, Jamie Malonzo and Dave Ildefonso will be included in the roster together with the veterans like Renaldo Balkman, and Beau Belga, among others.
Charles Tiu will be the head coach of the team.
