Philippines' Sibol lead the medal tally in the SEA Games' first esports tournament

The Philippine esports team "Sibol", lead the medal tally in the historic inclusion of esports in South East Asian Games held in FilOil Flying V Centre on December 10, 2019.


Sibol Philippines managed to grab 5 medals in 4 different esports title in the tournament


The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team grabbed the gold medal after defeating the Indonesian team in a close 3-2 series.


Sibol's DOTA2 team seized the finals victory against Thailand in an exciting 3-2 win, bringing home the gold medal for the Philippines.


Caviar Napoleon Acampado secured the gold medal as well in Starcraft 2 in a dominating fashion, finishing 4-1 against Singapore's Thomas Kopankiewicz


Alexandre Laverez and Andreij Albar grasped the Tekken 7's silver and bronze medals after coming up short for the gold against Thailand's Nopparut Hempamorn.


The Philippines was then followed by the Thailand team with 4 medals (2 gold and 2 silver).


The medalled esports event is huge for the Philippines not only because it is the debuting stage for the event, but also because of Sibol's historical success in the event winning medals in 4 out of 6 titles in the competition.
